a sudden frost succeeding rain in roumania often renders the bustards that abound in the plains peculiarly easy victims to the sportsman. The birds get their wings frozen and in their helplessness are attached by mounted peasantry, who, with shouting and cracking of whips drive them into an enclosure, where they are dispatched.
