this hotel was occupied, until the beginning of the 20th century, by different religious communities (sainte-aure, benedictines of the holy sacrament, sisters of the immaculate conception of castres, etc. ). The series of views of paris drawn by herrmann, kept at the carnavalet museum (card01916 to card01924), dates from his stay in the capital, between 1902 and 1905. These parisian works are signed by the pseudonym henri héran. According to information provided by his son paul, herrmann was a friend of toulouse-lautrec, oscar wilde, president poincarré, and the painter e. Munch who taught him engraving (see artist's file).
