Zoom sur La Porte de l’Enfer Auguste Rodin (1840-1917) Musée d'Orsay, Auguste Rodin

The gates of hell is a world-work, populated by many figures and groups who often enjoy an autonomous existence, to the point of sometimes becoming more famous than it, like the thinker. It was partly thanks to his network of artist friends, notably the painter laurens and the sculptor dalou, that auguste rodin was spotted by the fine arts administration in 1880. While he was still little known, he received the order for a model of a decorative door intended for a museum of decorative arts that the state wished to create in paris.
