Situate on the delaware river, bounded by front, prime and wharton streets, some of the best and most efficient vessels of war in the united states navy were built here, the dismantle and removal of the ship houses etc. Commenced on september 7th 1875 to the new navy yard at league island the southern terminus of broad street.
