Dante tries to persuade Scarpetta Ordelaffi to move against Florence at the head of the Romagna and Tuscan exiles, Pompeo Randi, 1854

In this painting, dante seeks ordelaffi's support against the guelphs. Dante was in fact an exile at that time and was hosted in forlì in march 1303 by ordelaffi, vir nobilis et ghibellinorum in forlivio princeps.
