The reign of mikhail fedorovich's son, alexei mikhailovich, nicknamed the quietest for his meekness and kindness, is known for the publication of the cathedral code, the correction [through the efforts of patriarch nikon] of church books and the annexation, through bohdan khmelnitsky, of little russia. The autocrat's gentle and good-natured nature attracted general sympathy towards him. Date: 1896.
