near a calm pond, a man is fishing while his partner stands at the edge of the water sitting on a bench. The two characters are represented with animal heads, the man is a type of gull, the woman a swan. The bridegroom fishes in rustic attire, a hat on his head, a collared shirt tied with a scarf, pants rolled up at the knees. The lady is languid on the bench. She is dressed in a large ruffled dress and wearing a large hat decorated with feathers. She is holding a small book entitled "happiness in marriage", against the bench rests a lyre. Extract from métamorphoses du jour (editions gustave havard libraire, paris, 1854): "what do you have so much to accuse, both your father and the laws? look at yourself a little. Do you think you belong to the swan family? come on, you are only a goose, and a goose can, without exception, marry a cormorant. "
