Field post letters from hans koch, vienna, world war ii, eastern front, 1922-1945 previous letter (1938-08-24) letter date (1938-08-28) next letter (1938-08-31) dietrichsorda 28. Viii. 38. Dear parents! thank you very much for your lovely letter which i want to answer today. Now things are going well again, the harvest is almost over. We only have 4 loads of oats left in the field. It wasn’t a dog bringing them in. I was almost always unloading. It was often very hot. There was always cold coffee or raspberry water. Now it’s gotten cooler. I have to have my other shoes doubled [fitted with a sole]. They are quite “it’s an honor. ” [farewell greeting] - karl and i often talk about home. We’re glad we’re together, at least now we can talk our heads off. You ask what we're doing until december. Oh, there's enough. Now comes the potato harvest, then the beet harvest, there's always something to do. The main thing is that december comes soon. - you've asked a difficult question. What i'll do after my shift? we don't know yet. It's the same with music. Date: 28 August 1938.
