Obverse: philippvs maria anglvs dvx mediolani et cetera papie anglerie qve comes ac genve dominvs [separation mark dot, star at the beginning of the legend. Et ligated]. Bust of filippo maria visconti to the right. Crumpled hat, patterned robe with a bird embroidered on the shoulder, above the ducal crown. Reverse: opvs pisani pictoris [separation mark dot]. Three riders in a rocky area, on the left the duke in full armor, on the right a squire seen from behind, in the middle a knight seen from the front. In the background rocks, on the left a castle, on the right buildings and a female statue (fortitudo?). Comment: cast. Perforated at the top. - if we follow the theory put forward by some researchers that this piece dates back to an earlier date (around 1431 or 1435 instead of 1441), this medal would represent pisanello's first work in the new medium of the art medal.
