In 1704 pieter mortier (1661-1711) published a compilation from the five town books of italy that were published between 1663 and 1682 by joan blaeu blaeu (1571-1638) and his heirs. This publication contained several new maps and prints from the studio of mortier. Among the new maps was this city view on the town of venice. It is possible that this city view was inspired by one by the italian cartographer vincenzo coronelli (1650-1718) from 1693. Object Type: print. Date: 1704. Place of creation: Amsterdam.
