The dutch fleet lying in the helder 4/14 may 1665 on the left, a distant view of a number of ships lying at anchor with their fore and main yards acockbil. In the centre foreground, a port bow view of a smalschip at anchor. To the right, a small harbour with a vessel sailing out from it. It is inscribed on the back ‘op hemelvarts dagh den (?14) meij 1665 / smorgens soo als hem de vloet vertonde / van de helder te sien / no 2’ (on ascension day the 14 may 1665 in the morning showing how the fleet appeared as seen from den helder.
