Caída y prisión del Príncipe de la Paz, Zacarías González Velázquez, circa 1814

Day march 19, 1808. In aranjuez. / fall and imprisonment of the prince of peace / the rebellious people run to his house and after having carried out the most effective efforts, they find him hidden in an attic between some mats. The uproar and shouts of the crowd announce to charles iv the risk of his favorite. To help him / he sends prince fernando, sure that the people would obey his voice. The prince arrives in a hurry, and orders a squad of bodyguards to guard him. But neither this nor being protected among the horses prevents the people from throwing stones at him and trying to offend him with clubs, swords and other instruments that fury and chance provide. Reserve for his life the prince's promise that he will be punished as his crimes deserve. However, he arrives imprisoned at the bodyguard barracks with forty-seven wounds. Date: circa 1814.
