Dear parents, now that i have some time i want to write you a few lines again. The stationery is a bit out of style but that doesn't matter. We've been marching hard again and have now encountered the enemy again. Things will probably be back to normal soon. How long this will all last is too long to say. In any case, those at home have no idea of the conditions here and the exertions and privations. Nevertheless, we are in good spirits and are certain of our victory. We're really looking forward to returning home. I'll write to you as often as time permits. As i have already asked in other letters. Please send me stationery, something, if possible sweets and fizzy powder and a comb! of course, all of this only if it is possible. Now to you. I hope you are and remain healthy. Dad in particular should be very careful because when i come home again [i would like to see you all again, happy and healthy!]. Date: 8 August 1941.
