Banco de España (01-01-1878) Miguel de Cervantes, billete de 1.000 pesetas, anverso, Federico Navarrete y Fos, 1 January 1878

Obverse of a bank of spain bill dated january 1, 1878, but put into circulation on december 29, 1884. For the first time the figure of miguel de cervantes and a scene from don quixote appeared on paper money. The dimensions of the bill are 210x132 mm, with a face value of 1000 pesetas, printed in three colors; black, green and brown. It was manufactured and issued by the bank of spain, the engraver being federico navarrete y fos. The circulation was 75,000 notes. Date: 1 January 1878.
