La confesión, Vicente Palmaroli, 1883

La confesión, Vicente Palmaroli, 1883

The title of the work alludes to the flirtation of the two characters, playing with the similarities of the basket with a confessional. The scene addresses one of the most frequent themes in genre painting of the second half of the 19th century: the flirting and games of the bourgeois classes. By opting for a vertical format, the painter focuses attention on the event represented, the gallant conversation between the young people, preventing the viewer from dispersing his attention to the landscape. The clear coloring, the precise drawing and the virtuoso workmanship are typical of palmaroli's best paintings. Object Type: painting. Date: 1883. Dimensions: height: 137 cm (53.9 in); width: 63 cm (24.8 in). Medium: oil on panel. Collection: Museo del Prado. La confesión, por Vicente Palmaroli
