A serving maid rejects a man's advances by abu'l hasan ghaffari sani' al-mulk, qajar iran, second half 19th century gouache on paper, after a european original, the man dressed in frock coat, his arm around a serving girl who pushes him away, watched by an older maid, with associated attribution in 4ll. Of black script, slight wear, mounted and framed miniature 5 x 7in. (12. 6 x17. 6cm. ) the note says this page of water colour painting is the work of abu'l-hasan khan sani' al-mulk, the chief painter of the early nasr al-din shah period which he copied from a sevre plate which [was sent ] from the college of art to france.
