Dirck bouts or dieric bouts (harlem, 1415 to 1420; louvain, 1475). A painter who would have frequented the studios of jan van eyck and rogier van der weyden, he worked in bruges and antwerp, later moving to louvain, where he was the city's painter from 1468. He married catherine van der brugghen, with whom he had two children, equally involved in painting, and was the first flemish painter to use the vanishing point for perspective, as evidenced in the last supper, from 1464 to , included in the altarpiece of the blessed sacrament of louvain.
