On the left, voluntary contraction of the superciliary to a greater degree than in figure 23; gaze upwards and outwards, mouth half-open; extreme pain to the point of exhaustion; the subject appears to succumb to suffering: head of christ. On the right, voluntary contraction of the frontal, with gaze a little oblique upwards and inwards and with mouth a little half-open: memory of love or ecstatic gaze. " [model: jules talrich].
