An alkmaar orphan whose career took off like a dream. Climbing the ranks of the dutch east india company (voc) to become director of trade for persia and finally, in 1648, commander of the annual voc fleet returning from asia to holland. That is how he is portrayed here in 1674. With two (fictitious) black servants, proudly wearing his voc medal. In fact wollebrand died that same year.
