Portrait of the right honorable william pitt amherst (1773–1857), lord amherst, governor general of india: this image came from a picture by sir thomas lawrence, principle painter in ordinary to his majesty p. R. A. , painted for the british factory at canton upon his lordship's return from his embassy to china. It was engraved by charles (chas. ) turner, mezzotinto engraver in ordinary to his majesty, and published on may 24, 1824 by mess. Rs colnaghi son & co printsellers to the king pall mall east. [2].
