this scene has three protagonists. On the left, a couple is arguing. The man, represented with a sheep's head, seems contrite in front of his wife with the head of a tigress who, angry, clenches her fists and insults him. On the right, a young woman dressed as a maid, wipes her tears with her apron, she has the face of a dog. Excerpt from métamorphoses du jour (published by gustave havard libraire, paris, 1854): "it is not always prudent to be unfaithful, in any case it is never moral; but when you are a sheep and have been foolish enough to become unfaithful in this way, you must of all necessity become [. . . ] the most deserving of husbands [. . . ] this seems to me to be the attitude of our sheep in the presence of his roaring tigress. "
