First of two lithographs of the salford cross, a centuries-old monument which was taken down in 1824 during manchester's widescale road-widening program of the 1820s. Captured by scottish artist john ralston (1789-1833) circa 1821, with additional figures added by denis dighton. Published as part of the series views of ancient buildings in manchester (1823-1825), circa 1823. Date: c.1823.
