Portrait of Elisabetta Farnese, Queen of Spain, Nicolas de Largillière, between 1700 and 1746

Portrait of Elisabetta Farnese, Queen of Spain, Nicolas de Largillière, between 1700 and 1746

So-called portrait of elisabeth farnese, queen of spain (1692-1766), but is probably a depiction of elisabeth christine of brunswick-wolfenbüttel, holy roman emperor (1691-1750). Identification proposed by user ecummenic (talk) based on the comparison with some portraits of empress elisabeth christine (see images below) and the lack of physical resemblance of the sitter of this portrait to verified representations of elisabeth farnese. Date: between 1700 and 1746. Dimensions: height: 60 cm (23.6 in); width: 44.2 cm (17.4 in). Medium: oil on canvas. Collection: Museo Glauco Lombardi.
