Oil on canvas portrait of an alderman by thomas eyre macklin rba (1867–1943), a british artist, illustrator and sculptor. The painting is at laing art gallery. The subject of this painting is very possibly alderman thomas richardson (d. 1911), who was a mayor of newcastle upon tyne. His portrait was painted by macklin, and presented in june 1901 at the behest of sir charles hamond and other magistrates. At the time of richardson's death, the portrait was hanging in the magistrates' room at the city police court in pilgrim street, newcastle. (source: "death of ald.
