No. 6, captain george franklin atkinson, a view of 'mutineers surprised by her majesty's 9th lancers', 1857, from the book 'the campaign in india, 1857-8', published 1859. During the indian mutiny (1857-1859), the 9th queen's royal lancers earned the nickname 'the delhi spearmen', a name which is believed to have been given to them by the mutineers themselves.
