The event probably took place in november 1886. The picture reflects the change in style from the biedermeier to the wilhelminian era. The brushwork is inconsistent with the sharpness of the details without resembling a portrait. According to the incoming light, which only illuminates the southwestern part of the courtyard, the event takes place in the late afternoon. The 89-year-old emperor is sitting in an open hunting carriage. The master of the hunting equipment greets him in front of the two chestnut trees. The piqueurs with count salomon at the head and the pack are standing in the front right. A band plays to welcome the emperor. Hermann schnee painted the castle on the right with three windows instead of two. The chestnut trees are leafy, contrary to the season. The cast zinc group wild boar hunt by wilhelm wolff (1861) in the middle of the courtyard has been omitted. Object Type: painting. Date: 1887. Dimensions: 94 x 138 cm. Medium: painting.
