Arolsen Klebeband 15 023, 1716

Motif: angelica vincitrice di alcina, opera by johann joseph fux (music), pietro pariato (libretto), first performed in 1716 to mark the birth of prince leopold on a stage on two islands in a pond in the favorita park near vienna. Stage design by giuseppe galli di bibiena. Act ii, scene iii, a canal separates two islands, in the distance the sea with many ships, in front of it a rock with sparkling flames. The two islands are populated by monsters and savages through alcina's magic. On one island angelica is tied to a rock, on the other ruggiero is chained to a tree stump. Ruggiero, bradamante and astolfo rush to the rescue in barges. Date: 1716.
