The royal yacht squadron's waterwitch and the royal navy brig h. M. S. Pantaloon in coastal waters in a stiff breeze one of a pair royal navy, brig pantaloon started her career as the private cruising yacht of the 4th duke of portland. Built at troon, she measured at 323 tons and was 90 feet in length with a 29 foot beam. Completed during 1831, she joined admiral sir edward codrington's squadron. Waterwitch, 334-ton. Built by white's at cowes, measured 90½ feet in length with a 29½ foot beam and was completed in 1832. Joined the royal navy's experimental squadron off cork that autumn for her trials and outsailed everything the navy could field against her. At the start of the 1834 season, belfast had her interior refitted as a yacht and in september challenged mr. C. R. M. Talbot to a race. Lot number: live auction 8918 lot 54 sale 12 jun 2013.
