Casa Rosada (1876), 1876

The old fort of buenos aires, seat of the government of argentina (at front). The fort would be demolished in the 1880s. At the back, the post office building (inaugurated in 1873), that would become the house of government in 1882, remaining up to present days. It was nicknamed "casa rosada (pink house)" due to it had been painted with a mix of animal blood and lime during the presidency of domingo sarmiento (1868-1874). Date: 1876.
