1792 allegory of the polish constitution of 3 may 1791 by daniel chodowicki, an artist from gdansk working in berlin. The constitution is personified as a young queen. She is surrounded by two peasants, an artisan, female personifications of science, trade and arts, and victory. This allegory stresses the progressive aspect of the constitution, enfranchising non-noble classes. Also, note the polish and lithuanian coats of arms. Etching, size: 8. 8x5. 2 cm. Date: 1792.
