The virgin mary, depicted in the centre, is flanked by saint catherine and saint barbara. Jesus' gaze is directed at elector frederick the wise of saxony, the donor of the altar. His brother, john the steadfast, is depicted on the right wing. Behind both are their patron saints, saint bartholomew for frederick and saint james for john. Object Type: painting, triptych.
