Field post letters from hans koch, vienna, world war ii, eastern front, 1922-1945 previous letter (1943-04-15) letter no. 158 (1943-04-16) next letter (1943-04-17) envelope: front front and back text east, april 16, 1943. My beloved mum! your letter of april 4th finally arrived today. I have been waiting for it for a long time. I am now calmer again, i thought something was wrong. Yes, i am completely healthy again now and have no pain, you don’t need to worry, i’m still fine. You write that eating, working and having fun give you no joy, my dear mum, but that is not the case, and that cannot change the fact that this war has to end at some point! when i get home again then everything will be fine! my wound has completely healed, i no longer need a bandage, and there are no more lice, plus everything has healed. We have now been deloused and have a sauna in the village, which is great. My company boss called today and said i have to go back to the baggage train for 14 days tomorrow to learn the accounting. It's also really nice, i can sleep in again. The only boring thing is packing and hiking again. Everything is still ok here and everything is quiet at the old place. The weather is really nice and mild. My dear mum, once again very warm easter greetings, have as good a time as possible. Stay. Date: 16 April 1943.
