Field post letters from hans koch, vienna, world war ii, eastern front, 1922-1945 previous letter (1934-11-24) letter date (1935-01-03) next letter (1935-08-02) envelope: front back: blank text january 3, 1935. Dear little nigger! i'm sorry that you had to wait so long for the gentleman who was supposed to bring you the package from santa claus! the gentleman, a friend of thomas's, was unable to take it with him because my brother neglected to give him the package in time. Now we had to replace the bakery with a fresh one and replace mrs. Wörle's butter with fresh one. But enjoy your meal! the butter is a little present from santa claus from mrs. Wörle! she sends her best wishes to the little nigger and wishes him a happy new year! all of us, especially thomas, wish you and your dear parents lots of luck and blessings in the new year! we hope you stay healthy, sweet and well-behaved and make your parents happy! you can come back to us in the summer! we finally have snow. It's only been snowing since yesterday, though. There's still quite a bit of snow. We've also had a new little cat since the autumn. It came to us and had apparently been in the sindwag [???] for a long time. When it came to us, it was almost starving. It gets on well with bürschl [the dog], he really likes all young cats. The little cat eats piez [???] and is incredibly nice and affectionate. Date: 3 January 1935.
