King Cyrus Handing over the Treasure Looted from the Temple of Jerusalem, Ferdinand Bol, between 1660 and 1663

The looted treasure from the temple of jerusalem is being presented to cyrus, king of the persians. The king is standing on the footsteps of the temple, while a number of silver and gold dishes, beakers and jugs are carried to him. Part of five paintings that served as wall hangings of the achterzaal (back room) of nieuwegracht 6 in utrecht. Of the sixth wall hanging by jan van bijlert only a fragment remains, now in the centraal museum in utrecht. Object Type: painting. Genre: religious art. Date: between 1660 and 1663.
