Illustration by poul steffensen from the danish novel gjøngehøvdingen by carit etlar which takes place during the dano-swedish war in 1657-58. Christen skeel, a member of rigsrådet (the council of the state), svend poulsen, gøngehøvdingen, a fisherman and ib abelsøn on the sleigh entering rosenborg castle. Svend poulsen brings money to the danish king but the guards in the background would only let staff and noblemen inside. Christen skeel then put his own cape on the shoulders svend poulsen remarking that he is as good as any nobleman. Christen skeel (1603-1659) and svend poulsen (app. 1610 - app. 1679) were real persons but the story is fiction. The look of svend poulsen is also fantasy as there is no known portraits of him. Date: Original illustration from the 1890s, here reprint from 1909..
