Coming from the collection of philip ii in el escorial, the inventory of 1600 describes him carrying a cornucopia with flowers from which a rook was pecking in one hand, of which now only the fog remains, and resting the other on the dome of the hard stone monstrance of the escorial altarpiece, his most admired work.
