Warships and paddle tugs off a coastline, possibly in the dardanelles, 1915
a paddle tug is in the foreground of this watercolour study and two other red-funnelled vessels on the right may also be tugs, attending a group of three unidentifiable warships. They appear to be under fire, possibly from the shore, which may suggest the dardanelles but this is far from certain. The main artistic purpose seems to be as a study of funnel-smoke effects. Date: 1915. Dimensions: 172 mm x 343 mm. Collection: Fine art.
