Figure 2 of the phd thesis of jean baptiste perrin. A crookes tube specially constructed for demonstrating that cathode rays are negatively charged material corpuscules. The tube contains a cylindrical receptor abcd, wired to an external electrometer and placed inside a larger cylinder efgh used as faraday shield and anode. N is the cathode.
