Venice remains alone! “the duke of navailles had meanwhile decided to leave for france with his people; having been informed of this, morosini, knowing that such an abandonment would bring with it the loss of all care and effort sustained up until then, decided to ask all the other generals who were at standia to go to candia as soon as possible, so that together they could find a way to dissuade navailles from his purpose: but since neither prayers nor reasons were able to persuade him, jacopo contarini, duke of candia, caused the magistrates of the city to with the clergy of both rites, solemnly went to it. .
