"bust portrait of a noblewoman in oval. The sovereign is dressed soberly and, despite her contemptuous attitude, the image appears veiled. The mediocre state of conservation of the pastel, impoverished in its material, also contributes to lowering the tone of the portrait, played on a cold chromatic range. Gustav taubert (berlin 1755-1839) is cited in the repertoires as the author of pastel and oil portraits, history and genre paintings, caricatures and miniatures on ivory, enamel and porcelain. Active in dresden (1782), vienna and danzig (1785-1792), in 1800 taubert became superintendent at the royal porcelain manufactory in berlin where numerous of his silver-tipped miniatures are preserved. The work was exhibited in vignola in 1996. ". Date: between 1775 and 1799. Dimensions: height: 30 cm (11.8 in); width: 23 cm (9 in). Medium: parchment, pastel, watercolor painting.
