Illustration by poul steffensen from the danish novel gjøngehøvdingen by carit etlar which takes place during the dano-swedish war in 1657-1658. Ib abelsøn, his sister ane marie and her husband svend poulsen, gøngehøvdingen with their little son as well as several gønger in the background. Ane marie says the lord's prayer before ib abelsøn and svend poulsen takes off with the money they have hidden in the dead red deer in the foreground. Svend poulsen (app. 1610 - app. 1679) was a real person but the story is fiction. The look of svend poulsen is also fantasy as there are no known portraits of him. Date: Original illustration from the 1890s, here reprint from 1909..
