Miss Coddington (6357525871), circa 1852

Adding this daguerreotype today (18 november) in honour of louis daguerre, who was born 18 november 1787. His method of producing an image on a copper plate with a layer of highly polished silver was one of the first permanent photographic methods. We believe that miss coddington was a member of the coddington family who owned the land at the site of the battle of the boyne. The image has been hand tinted, and resides in a leather case.
