Frontispiece and title page of edward coke (1648) the fourth part of the institutes of the laws of england: concerning the jurisdiction of the courts (2nd ed. ), london: printed by m[iles] flesher for w[illiam] lee and d[aniel] pakeman oclc: 294863631. The frontispiece has an engraving of coke by john payne (1607–1647) dated 1629, that is, when coke was aged 77. The inscriptions on the engraving are as follows:
around the portrait: "prvdens qvi patiens. " ("the prudent are patient. ")
above the portrait: "anno 1629. " ("the year 1629. ")
