Upper image. Silenus, supported by a maenad, rides upon a donkey. He holds a bowl to his lips with his left hand and a pitcher in his right. He is accompanied by young satyrs. An elephant is shown in the rear. Lower image: a priest sacrifices wine at right. A woman in flowing robes leads a goat with her right hand and offers a dish laden with fruit and grapes with her left. She is accompanied by two young satyrs carrying a large pitcher. A temple and satyr herm are visible in the shadows. Date: 1800–1810. Dimensions: 3.1 x 22.7 cm (12 5/8 x 8 15/16 in.. Medium: brush and brown wash, graphite on cream laid paper, pen and brown ink.
