BM Mars and Venus, Rosso Fiorentino

Mars and venus, with cupids and the graces helping mars remove his armour. After 1530 engraving producer name formerly attributed to: jacopo caraglio print made by: monogrammist hcb after: rosso fiorentino see eugene carroll, 'rosso fiorentino', ng washington 1987, cat. 57-8. This print is after a drawing now in the louvre that was commissioned from rosso in venice in 1530 by pietro aretino. The engraving has traditionally been attributed to caraglio, but with no reason other than the link between the two men. [1].
