Cornelis visscher cornelis visscher was born in harlem or amsterdam in 1629. He died in amsterdam in 1658. He is an engraver of the dutch golden age. He made famous engravings in his day and had an unusual talent for drawing a model from nature. Houbraken mentions that his works could be seen in the collection of the wealthy director of the east india company, who was a collector and had a great art cabinet, jeronimus tonneman. The engravings of visscher's hand were made after famous painters from haarlem such as nicolaes berchem, adriaen van ostade, pieter van laer and adriaen brouwer. He was a pupil of pieter claesz soutman. He joined the guild of st. Luke of haarlem in 1653. Date: before 1658 from the original of 1585.
