Photolithographic print of a photograph of the "döhrener turm coffee shop" taken in 1883 or earlier. The image (photo by an as yet unidentified photographer) with the (page?) number 2 comes from the book aus hannovers vorzeit. Ein beitrags zur deutschen kultur-geschichte. Mit 23 photolithographischen abbildungen, etc. , published by historian august jugler (1833-1888) and was originally printed in 1883 by the aubeldruck-anstalt, aubel & kaiser, lindenhöhe [38 b] near cologne. The digital copy shown here was uploaded to the flickr platform as part of a larger campaign by the british library (instead of directly here at commons), downloaded from there in the highest possible size, then darkened with a photo editing program using "auto contrast" and finally uploaded here. The accompanying text from the book is still missing - and may contain a reference to the original photographer and the exact date the photo was taken. A better "scan" is certainly possible, and - in the long term - we may find the original photo for the best possible digital copy. Date: circa 1883.
