My beloved mother! i want to pick up my pen again today and write to you. This morning i just quickly wrote a card so you know my new address. So on sunday at 6. 16 a. M. I left blankenburg for halberstadt, had a short stopover there and was supposed to continue on at 7. 58 a. M. As i was standing on the platform, who was coming, lisel! when she heard that i had to get on the next train, she ran around until she found a train that was leaving later. So i stayed here and had a great coffee and cake. At 10. 38am i drove on to goslar. I was there once before in 1942 with the marching battalion. I arrived here in the evening. Well, mom, the school is run by the nskk [national socialist motor corps] and is excellent. Lovely rooms, everything tiled, the beds nicely with wire inserts. Almost like a convalescent home. How glad we are that i was lucky enough to come here! the town is beautifully situated in the middle of the harz mountains and is also a spa. Don't worry about the driving, i'm being careful. The course lasts three weeks and then i'll be back in blankenburg. How's my mom? how are you with the planes? it's the same here as in blankbg. Nothing has been thrown yet! Date: 2 October 1944.
