An astonishing, subtle and complex piece, executed in line, playing on a whole range of different ink values to compensate for the absence of wash. The composition is of a very original conception, the counterpart of which is not found anywhere else in su renshan's work. The presence of two seals, which are also not found anywhere else, completes the task of giving this painting a piquant flavor of enigma. Date: between 1814 and 1849.
