Description dam square with the town hall and the waag
dam square with the town hall and the waag, seen from the de hond in de pot inn next to the nieuwe kerk. In the background the entrance to the kalverstraat. To the right is the gasthuisstraat or alley, now the paleisstraat. The house on the corner of kalverstraat and gasthuisstraat dates from 1594 and was demolished, together with a number of other houses, for the construction of the de groote club society in 1870. Paleisstraat was then slightly widened. The three houses between kalverstraat and kromelleboogsteeg were renovated in 1837 for the de vriendschap society. The zeemanshoop college had its seat there from 1864 to 1914. Document type: drawing
